EMDR

EMDR is an innovative and highly effective approach to trauma treatment that uses the brain’s natural healing process to recover from trauma and other distressing experiences. When trauma occurs our brain can get stuck in the event, unable to move forward. With EMDR the brain is able to get unstuck and begin processing the memories, giving you the ability to move forward in life.

What to expect during an EMDR session:

Each EMDR session will work on a specific memory (or piece of a memory) that you want to decrease distress around. Traditionally EMDR uses simple eye movements to achieve the decrease of distress, however there are many other ways to achieve the same results without having to use your eyes at all, such as tapping or buzzers you hold in your hands. Throughout the session you’ll simply be asked to notice what is happening inside your mind and body.
