Therapy for Childhood Trauma

Ideally childhood is a time of exploration, growth, and unconditional love. For some of us, however, there may have been consistent (or inconsistent) anger, aggression, and fear from caregivers. Maybe your parent was addicted to drugs or alcohol, or maybe they were too busy with a new partner, or their own needs, to pay attention to what you needed. You may have experienced physical, emotional, or sexual abuse and did not get the help you needed. Therapy can be a great place to start healing from the unfortunate hurts of childhood.

Some common symptoms of unresolved childhood trauma include:

  • Low self-esteem

  • High anxiety

  • Chronic depression

  • Insecurity in relationships

  • Co-dependency

  • Feeling disconnected from yourself and others

  • Flashbacks to upsetting memories

  • Distrust of those who try to get close

Here’s how I can help:

I provide therapy designed to help you connect and make peace with all the parts of you. Using a combination of therapies, such as EMDR and Ego State Therapy, I can help you learn to manage strong emotions, cope with intrusive memories, calm your body, and repair relationships in distress.
