Mindfulness Based Therapy

With mindfulness based therapy the focus is on enhancing awareness of the present moment, as well as practicing being non-judgmental toward the thoughts and feelings that come up throughout the day. Mindfulness based therapy can help decrease anxiety and depression (as well as many other symptoms) by helping us to be more accepting of ourselves. With that acceptance often comes a greater sense of well-being.

Here’s what you can expect during a session where mindfulness is at the core:

  • You may be asked to attend to the present moment in session and share what you notice

  • We may incorporate short breathing exercises into sessions if you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed

  • You may be asked to consider your thoughts and feelings as neither good nor bad
